Bird’s Eye Chile hotter – Madagascar

We now offer a second option of the bird’s eye Chile, it’s small but packs quite a lot of heat. At one time it was even listed as the hottest chili in the Guinness Book of World Records but other hotter varieties of chili have since been identified. It’s what gives local dishes such as Bicol express and the Berbere their fiery zing. It is also used to flavor vinegar.

On the Scoville scale, normally they rate between 50,000 and 100,000 Scoville units. That’s 10 times hotter than a jalapeño but half the heat of a habanero. This batch from Madagascar is closer to 150,000 units.

For this one, the harvest is from Madagascar, it’s smaller than the one from North Africa but also hotter!
