1 square of double layer cheesecloth, 5-inch square

Instructions

Place contents of Spicy Rum Junk – mulling spice onto 5” squared cheesecloth. Tie the cloth securely with string. To make mulled red wine, combine the wine, honey or raw sugar, and the spice pouch in a pot. Warm over low heat for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally to make sure the sweetener is dissolved. Ladle the liquid into mugs, discarding the spice pouch.

Mulled Wine Tips

Many of the subtle flavors of red wine can be masked with mulling spices. Save your money and don’t buy top shelf this time. Medium priced wines are the best choice for mulling as they allow the flavor profile of the spices to shine without dominating the palette. Our top picks include Malbec, Zinfandel or Syrah/Shiraz.
