The Espelette pepper (French: Piment d’Espelette) ; is a variety of Capsicum annuum that is cultivated in the French commune of Espelette, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, traditionally the northern territory of the Basque people. One of the hardest peppers to find this side of the Atlantic and once you try it, you will see why it’s considered the most expensive chile pepper.
